I Love Cottages
By Peace | June 15, 2006
Today I blog about England’s Places of Interest.

I love Cottages. I have many miniature cottages at home. I love to see various kinds of cottages also. The more the merrier.

Lake District

Lake District
You can read about Winderemere at my other blog, Peace Starts With A Smile
Bowness-on-Windermere is packed full of things to see and do, from the Beatrix Potter Centre or Steamboat Museum to countless shops and restaurants. Cruise ships sail from Bowness Bay several times an hour, or you can hire a rowing boat and explore the many islands and bays. The village is a fine base from which to explore the Lake District and its entrancing scenery. Superb hill, woodland and waterfall walks proliferate or go pony trekking, cycling, climbing, sailing, fishing, golfing… the opportunities are endless.
The Lake District is a haven for photographers, painters, country crafts, bird watching or simply refreshing and revitalizing yourself. You can visit fine country houses and local interest museums, venture up steep Hardknott Pass to visit the Roman Fort, or take a trip to the mysterious 5000 year old stone circle at Castlerigg. There are also many lovely gardens, made all the more impressive for their beautiful locations. Capture the vivid spectacle of the giant rhodedendrons in bloom in spring, come for the rich colours of the leaves in autumn, or seek poetic inspiration in William Wordsworth’s Garden “…a little nook of mountain ground”. Both he and Beatrix Potter loved the area and lived close to Windermere – you can visit their houses or walk in their footsteps.
