Hamsters Slave
By Peace | November 15, 2006
This is my thoughts for the day:
Nice things are not necessary good things. Nice things need maintenance and it is very time consuming. A lot of task can be simplified if we just use simple things.
These will explain why:

Today I manage to take some more pictures of the hamsters. My camera got some problems. Every time I can only take at most 2 pictures (if I am lucky) otherwise, not even 1. No matter how long I charge the battery, it will always say ‘change the battery pack’. I have two batteries. And two of these batteries are the same. This camera was bought about 3-4 years back, Canon. That’s why I cannot take my time to ‘aim’ properly. Once I on the camera, I must quickly take a shot. Otherwise, the ‘change battery pack’ alarm will come out and I cannot even take any picture after that.
This is where the hamsters were kept on the first day when they were brought to my house. It looks nice but I do not like it. In addition, the bedding use was black in colour (some kind of look like little black crayons, so disgusting to me). The food was put in plastic orange container which looks nice. There was a container of sand for the hamster to sand bath also.
Soon, in a few days time, I have everything changed. Now it looks like this (picture above). At first I have newspaper laid in the plastic tray. But now I have removed the newspaper also, meaning, there is no lining at all! I find it is cleaner in this way. Every one or two days, I would clean up the box. I have even replaced the food container to a paper box container now. When it is dirty, I just throw away. Using the plastic container for food, I need to wash it every now and then if it is dirty. Using paper container and paper rolls, once it is dirty or torn up by the hamsters, I just throw it away. Everything is so easy now. And I can have a clear view of what the hamsters are doing.
There are some wooden carrots and tomatoes for the hamster to ‘play’. However I find that they seldom ‘play’.
They look so adorable when they are nibbling with their food.
You can see that I have removed all newspaper in the box. It looks so clean and this is the way I like it to be. And it is so much easier to manage them.
You can see that I have used a paper box to put the food also. I happen to have a big box so I use it. When it is big, it is good because the hamster will not topple the food (if you use small containers, they will topple the food). The food will not mix with their feaces.
So now I have become the hamsters slave. I need to look after them, clean their lodgings.
I still do not like hamsters that much. I love dogs most. If I have money, I will get another dog.

Something strange about the hamsters. They are known to be nocturnal animals. But my hamsters are active all day long! Probably they have adapted to ‘domestic’ life!
