Memorable Day

Today is a special day for Clara. It is also a memorable day for her. Today is the first time she went on stage to receive prize. She has won the first prize in class for her academic results.
On Monday, she gave me a letter, asking her to go for rehearsal as she is a prize winner. I was so shocked. I never expect her to be a prize winner at all.
This week she had gone 3 times for the prize giving rehearsal and today is the actual day. Both of us went to school at 7.40am. We were told to be seated by 7.45am.
When we reached there, I have to ask the teachers, where to proceed. I think it was not that well planned. And by the time we were seated in the hall, it was about 8.15 only. The programme will only start at 9am. It was so boring waiting there, with no music or any kind of entertainment at all.
As usual, the VIP always arrived late. They are never punctual. Everything starts at about 9.15am. After that, the principal gave a short speech and then the prize presentation started.
Everything ends at about 11.15am. On the way home, we opened the prize. It is a Borders gift card worth $15.

I asked Clara. “How you feel today?” She said she was not happy. Before she went on stage she was so nervous. After the event, she was disappointed. She was not contented with the gift. It seems that regardless of the position in class, all the winners for that level is $15. I think that is rather unfair. But afterall, it’s a great experience for her and probably an encouragement and motivation for her to work harder next time.
