A Second Chance?
By Peace | January 15, 2007

Demons don’t play by the rules. They lie and they cheat and they stab in the back.
It is a common scenerio to see both men and women cheating their spouse. Sometimes the parties involved are people whom you know — friends, relatives, or strangers which you do not know at all. Regardless of who these people are, it is angry to know that they betray you and cheated on you.
Although it is difficult to forgive someone who has done you wrong, there are time where you need to think why the relationship goes wrong also. Since it is the first time where marriage is concerned, and if you love your partner, why not give each other another chance, and this time, you learn from your mistake, never repeat your mistake. If after both of you try and still fail, then perhaps there is no third chance any more.
This is another article which I wrote at Helium on Marriage & Divorce:
Cheating and second chances
To forgive or not to forgive. It takes two to tango. It takes two to make the hands clap. Life is a learning journey. We are not perfect people. We make mistakes. Marriages fall apart due to many factors, both parties are responsible. However, I do not agree that to resolve any marriage problem, you need to seek to cheating — searching for other partner.
Cheating to me is when your spouse betray you, both mentally and physically, when he/she has frequent dates with the opposite sexes and have sex with them. To question yourself whether to forgive your cheating partner, that is giving your partner and of course yourself a second chance to the relationship depend on the length of cheating period and the extent of it, and most importantly whether you still wish to have chance to continue the relationship.
In most cases, if there are no children involve, normally most women will not give the men a second chance. Once found to be cheating, most women will not forgive their men. The same applies to men. No men can accept their women to cheat on them. I think no men will even give the women a second chance if they were to be found cheating.
However, unlike men, women tend to give the men a second chance for the sake of children. Women want the children to have a good family where there are both parents around. Men who found their wife cheating, even though they have children, tend to divorce their wife, they can remarry and they can hire people to look after the children for them.
This is the difference in fate between men and women who cheat. Although this is the general trend which I witness and is often seen on TV and heard from media, there is no need to follow the ‘trend’ in lives. We are leading our lives. We follow our hearts. We are master of our lives. We create our own destiny. You should know your best whether you want to give your partner a second chance a not. Follow your heart and not follow what people do. If you love your partner, forgive him/her, start a new relationship again. Though it may be hard, but you never know until you try.

An honorable man or woman is one who is truthful; free from deceit; above cheating, lying, stealing, or any form of deception. An honorable man or woman is one who learns early that one cannot do wrong and feel right. A man’s character is judged on how he keeps his word and his agreements. ~ Ezra Taft Benson
