QiHua Singapore Sculptures
By Peace | June 13, 2007
Qihua Primary School is a Singapore government primary school in Woodlands. Qihua is one of the oldest schools in Singapore, with more than 65 years of history.
This is QiHua Sculpture Park. The Sculpture Park represents an interactive combination of arts and music. The Musical Hand Sculpture provides the stage for pupils to explore and share their enthusiasm and love for the Aesthetics.
The first time I stepped into QiHua Primary School, I was impressed by its sculptures. They were beautiful.

This is what olden times policemen look like.

The Early Builders of Singapore, The Samsui Women. There was a reunion of about 350 Samsui women and former “ma jies” (Chinese house maids) in Singapore. The Straits Times reported on 3 February 2000 that a Chinese New Year reunion lunch was organised for them. Even at their old age, they still had a strong sense of pride and dignity. Samsui women had to work under the hot sun as construction workers, often toiling into the wee hours of the night. We should be grateful for their contributions to our society and it is important that we remember them as the pioneer builders who laid the early foundation for Singapore.

During my younger days, there used to be Kacang Puteh Man who will visit different flats to sell Kacang Puteh. They are seen in Cinemas and Pasar Malam too. Now there is hardly any Kacang Puteh man.

My mother used to tell us that the Malays used ‘cats’ meat’ for the Satays. We often saw the Satay Man at our flats, there are not many people who queued up for the Satays.

This is what we often saw in TV shows, but not in real life. The only real ones that I saw was in Thailand, with my parents. The snake farm specialized in selling snakes products and snakes shows. People eat snakes meat as well as eat the gall bladder of the snake.

The coolies are the ones who help to carry goods and do work for their boss. I only see them in TV programmes.
