St. Anthony Church
By Peace | July 3, 2007

I do not know how St. Francis Church of Assisi looks like now. It’s been a very very long time since I last past by that church, my childhood church. My family used to go St. Francis Church of Assisi. After we had moved house, I went to St. Mary Church at Bukit Batok and after I got married, I go St. Anthony Church. During my childhood days, I also went St. Joseph Church with my family too. I had also went to Novena Church before but probably for not more than thrice. Among these church, I actually prefer to go St. Joseph Church.

During recent years, many changes, better improvements are being made at St. Anthony’s Church. Both the basement and the interior all were very well renovated by now, but the exterior look of the church does not look fantastic.

I wonder if the rest of the church like St. Francis of Assisi, St. Mary or St. Joseph are as high tech like St. Anthony now. In the past, the church at St. Francis was very monotonous. There were no music to go with the song initially. Soon, a piano was added and a choir was formed. The church in the past do not have television nor any projector or screen too. Before we were seated, we need to take our own hymn books and Sunday Missal books. During special celebrations like Christmas or New Year, sometimes there was not enough books too. Then these books need to be shared.
However, now going to the church is so much better. It is air-conditioned (In the past, my church at St. Francis of Assisi had no air-con at all.) and everything is clean and neat. There is no need to take any more hymn books or Sunday Missal Books. Everything is all shown on the screen and the TV all in front of us.

There was a time where all the hymns and songs were changed. I do not like that. It is very boring. But recently when I go to church again, I feel so much ‘back to church’ again. I have not had this feeling for a long time. It was good to find this feeling back again. But I hope they would stick to the same tunes and not changed it again.
