Worst Chicken Satay

By Peace | July 4, 2007

Went to eat Chicken Satay again. This is sure the last time we are going to eat at that stall at Woodlands North Plaza.

First I ordered 30 Chicken Satay and 2 rice. Waited for probably 10 minutes or so. Everyone was eager to quickly eat the hot satay. But luckily the ‘Bacteria Man‘ had the first bite. He was fast to inform me that the Satay was not cooked! I took a look at it, tried it and confirmed it was not cooked. I told the stall vendor, she was very surprised. So did we.

We waited for another 10 to 15 minutes. Our expectation dropped drastically, very much disappointed now. I was not going to expect the satay to be nice. The ‘outer’ part is already so well done, yet the ‘internal’ is raw. I had fried fish, I had cooked before and I understand all these. They are going to put the satay over at low heat or to ‘bake it’.

As expected, when the Satay came back again, it was not steamingly hot. It was not as tasty as ‘fresh’ satay. The presentation sucks too. The cucumber was not fresh too, something that looked like left over for a week! However, it could still be eaten.

The chicken was not at all tender, but tough, hard and chewy. I hate the aftertaste in my mouth — a kind of bloody taste. This is the worst satay I had ever eaten. Even the children were not interested to eat more.

One chicken satay cost 50 cents! What a waste of money! I had to asked for more cucumber to go with the satay. The cucumber looked terrible too — the cutting and the appearance. Obviously the knife is not sharp and the cucumber is not fresh at all.

The gravy is very important when eating Satay. This particular day, the gravy is not spicy and tasteless too. What a great disappointment.

The next time I am not going to buy anything from this Malay store. It sucks. It is terrible, no standard. I am going to eat Satay at Satay Club next time. I also want to go Raffles Place to eat BBQ stingray. I miss the food there.
