Purpose In Second Life

This is Sex Castle. As the name suggest, it is a castle for you to have sex. There are two storeys to the castle if I am not wrong. I had not had much time in the castle as there is nothing much to see and the place is very laggy. Most popular places in Second Life is laggy; and I hate to go actually, as I can hardly move.
As you can see from the pictures, there are many bed scenes to be seen at Sex Castle. Most people here are naked and most guys walked around with their penis hanging around. That is obviously a disgusting scene but it is a matter of getting use to it — after some time everything is just animation and it is so mechanical and cartoon-like. 
What makes people come to Second Life?

1. Curiosity
As with most things, everybody is curious about new things and want to try and experiment new things. People do not want to be ‘left’ on the bench when all their friends are all talking about Second Life, but they do not know what it is all about. Since Second Life had been mentioned in the newspaper, the Singaporeans who signed up for Second Life has definitely been increased. The Second Life group of Singaporean which is known as the Lion City has definitely more members than usual by now.
2. Needs - Dreams and Desire
With curiosity, there is always some intention, desire and needs coupled with it. Different people have different needs in their life. Not all people have their needs fulfilled in their current life. Second Life is a place for them to explore what they are missing in their life and in a sense ‘fulfilled’ their dreams.
Basically the needs of people can be of various. According to studies, all human beings have needs. The nine basic human needs are security, acceptance, adventure, community, freedom, power, expansion, expression and exchange.
Just like any other online chatting, Second Life serves the purpose of chatting as well as its fun part, playing games — creation of objects like buildings, furniture etc; scripting, and role playing.
As in all normal online chatting, the purpose of chatting in Second Life is also to relieve boredom, as a passing time after a hard day of work and getting to know more friends.
The common phrase of making friends is a very general topic. The reasons for making friends can be more than just ‘making friends’!
To the single men and women, the purpose of making friends means having more choices and exposure to their life time partner search. Through Second Life, these single people can have a chance to meet their soulmates, their lifetime partner.
To the married men and women, their purpose of making friends can means a friend to share their problems and joys. However, as what I had observed and experienced, good friends of the opposite sex is rare. The opposite sex tends to make friends easier than the same sex. This is all very normal as in actual real life. What really lies deeper behind is the sex part. The ultimate aim of married men and some women wants more than friendship. Friendship is just the beginning.
There are some people, the men who are very straight forward, and they just approach the woman, as in me, for sex. This depends on your dressing and the place you are at; and it also depends on how you look.
The love relationship of Second Life can be complicated and very messy.
3. Make Money
At Sex Castle, I was asked if I want to have free sex. I was dressed in Jeans and blouse. The one standing at the center of the middle picture is me. Of course I never consent to it.
In Second Life, there are many people who wants to make money. There are people who buy and sell land. These are the property agents. They can always go Auction to bid for their land. Once they get their land, they can sell their land, making profits in the process.
Renting a land or buying a land, you can make use of the land to sell various products. Owning a shop or shops allow you to sell items that you make or affiliated products.
Other ways of earning money in Second Life is through offering of services such as Psychic Reading, Counselling and so on.
Another way of earning money just like in our real life is through advertisements. There are always advertisements around regardless of where you go. Who will ever say NO to money?
Most people go Second Life for sex. You can see most places which offer ‘free sex’ are always popular and their traffic is always high.
People always like free things. One way to increase traffic to your sim or place is by offering free things to visitors.
