Second Life Casino

By Peace | July 28, 2007

To those people who loves to play online games and online gambling, the cessation of Second Life Casino would be a disappointment to them.  To the regular customers who patronized Second Life Casino, they would have to seek new way of entertainment.  The effects of Second Life Casinos can be classified into two categories of people — the business people and the consumers, the Second Life Residents.

Effects of Second Life Casino Closure on Residents
1.  Games
Basically, people who log in to Second Life can be those people who just want to spend their time there to have some fun and relaxation after a day of work.  These are people who regards Second Life as a game.  They look for sex, have fun and thrill in gambling and betting.  They are not concerns about making money or losing money.   For these people, the closure of Second Life Casino would not have so much effect on them.

To people who just want to experience a taste of casino, it is not going to be possible in Second Life anymore.  Land based casinos are known to be ’smoky’ with cigarettes odour, bad breathe, body odour and so on.  With the closure of Second Life Casino, people need to travel to different places of land based casino in the world.  This is a lot of inconvenience.

2.  Earn Money
To some people, gambling is their way of ‘earning money’.  Though it is improper, there are people who do that.  They are the professional gamblers.  To these people, their ‘money making trees’, the Second Life Casino which is no longer there would be a loss of source of gambling for them.  To these people, they need to find new places to gamble.

3.  Gambling Addicts/enthusiasts
This group of people can be professional gamblers who only make money through gambling or they are just people who are ‘addicted’ to gambling and they have no other job at all.  To these people, gambling is their craving.  Having Second Life Casino is a good idea for them.  Having Second Life Casino means that these people would not travel go the way out home to go land based casino.  Having Second Life Casino means that they can stay at home to solve their gambling addiction.

However, with the Second Life Casino closure, gambling addicts will now have to go land based casino.  They need to spend money on transport, and they will not be home for their families.  There might be more problems to come for these people — criminal cases, prostitution and so on.

Effects of Casino Closure on Business owners
1.  Loss of income and capital
To Casino Owners : For people who are doing well in their casino business, some of them have series and chains of casinos in Second Life; these will all be their hard work gone to waste as well as all their invested money gone down to drain.  It is a great business loss.  To business owners who have several Casino businesses, this means that they will have to think of new business opportunities for their land, otherwise all their land (After casino removed) will be pieces of vacant land.  They need to pay money to Linden for land that is not making any money still!

To Casino machines or games(script) creators: For these group of people, who have their own shop selling casino machines like blackjack, slot machines, and script writers for games, this will be their end of the business too.  There is no more demand for casino objects or machines.  Their casino supplies can only be antiques now.  To these people who are making money in Second Life, they surely need to find ways to sell other products and make new products.

2.  Other Business Opportunities
Casino Owners: The casino owners can find other business opportunities like what the other Second Life business people are doing.  There are club owners, real estate developers, Bank owners, architects, photographers and so on.  There are still many things to do in Second Life.

Casino machines or games(script) creators: Just like the Casino business owners, these people can make other machines and write scripts for other things.  The sex machines, bed, chair, teleport and so on.

The closure of Casino in Second Life does not affect me much.  For the people who are affected, there are still lots of things to do in Second Life.  But for people who like gambling, there is definitely a need to find alternative.   I do not gamble, nor do I go online gambling as a form of ‘earning money’.  To me, Casino is just another game if there exist.  I am totally able to control my wager and I will not risk my hard earned money.

There are still ways to make money in Second Life.  There are shops and clubs, and there are Stocks Exchange, Real Estate, Psychic reading and so on.  There are still more purpose in Second Life than just Gambling alone.

Renting a land, shop spaces or Buying a land to sell your products is another way to do business in Second Life.

This is Palace Club at Anastasiya.  Going to club, you can make some money from dancing pads or dancing poles.  You get to meet more people and know more friends at the club too.

This is just what I love to see in Second Life — houses, castles, buildings.

For me, I love to take pictures in Second Life.  This is the only way I can retain the beautiful moments and especially remember those beautiful places I had explored.  No more casinos?  I still go Second Life.  Second Life is a place of exploration for me.  It is a place for me to find ancient buildings, gothic places, medieval castles, cathedral and many more peaceful places.
