Something New
By Peace | July 30, 2007
Yesterday as well as Saturday was a bad day for me. For the first time after I had cycled from my house to the church, I felt terrible. I saw darkness and my heart hurt. I quickly sat down to rest at the kerb for some time. I have not had this kind of experience before. After that, my energy level was low. Nevertheless, the children went to classes and Richard and me went to Marsiling to eat breakfast.
We do not go Woodgrove this time. We went to Woodlands Avenue 1, opposite Singapore American School. The chicken rice is very nice there. We always buy Chicken rice there. Every Saturday the children will eat the Chicken rice from the stall too. Today we tried some other food from the food court.
I had no appetite. I walked around and decide to buy either duck porridge or noodle soup. I would want to eat Bee Hoon Soup, but they do not have. So in the end I ask for Duck Guo Tiao Soup. I ask for more bean sprouts. Richard ordered big prawns noodles.

The big prawns noodles, 大虾面 (da xie mian) came first. It did not look nice to me. Neither does it look like 大虾面 (big prawns noodle). The prawns are not big at all. There is no Kang Kong in the soup too. After Richard had tasted it, he said the prawns noodle tasted so-so only.

Below is my duck noodles. It smelt nice the moment it was served in front of me. I tasted the soup, hm… it tasted yummy. It tasted and smelt like the soup of my father’s favourite beef noodle soup. I used to eat beef noodle soup — only drink the soup when my father ate beef noodle. As requested, they had put more bean sprouts in it. That’s very good of them. Some stall vendors would not grant your wish even though you had told them and even though they had acknowledge it.

The soup was just nice, not too salty and not too sweet, everything just right. The duck meat was not so soft, other than that everything is okay. It is very worth it for I just got to pay $2.50 for a bowl of duck noodle soup. I would not want to eat the Fish Balls Noodles any more — The fish balls noodles used to be nice and I would miss it. However, ever since after the GST increase, the standard has dropped and the fish balls are not the same as before. Now I do not miss the Fish Balls noodles anymore, not even want to think of eating it again.

However this duck noodle soup is different. I would eat it again.
