Pastamania

Went to Pastamania on Monday for dinner. Ricsson loves Spaghetti. Among the various places and restaurants, he still likes spaghetti from Pastamania and Ikea. At Pastamania, he always likes to eat Vongole and Chicken Bolognese. But nowadays, he seldom eat Vongole because they had changed the ‘la la’ (clams) to another species, which we found not tasty and they are not fresh at all. The price had went up a lot. From the previous year of $5.50, a plate of Chicken bolognese now cost $6.60 including GST. Even the void deck seafood restaurant whom I had always ordered my food, had their price increased lately. From $3.00 for a pack of ‘Zhi Zha’(stir-fried) Hokkien Mee, the current price of all the ‘Zhi Zha’ noodles now cost $3.50. Everything up by $0.50. This means that for four person in the family, we had to pay at least $2.00 every meal. Singapore Food is just getting more expensive.
At Pastamania, we always order Chicken Bolognese, soup of the day and a drink. Sometimes we had garlic bread. Ricsson and Clara like to drink cream of mushroom soup but not with chicken. However, I noticed that they seldom have mushroom soup nowadays. Whenever I asked for soup, it would be cream of corn or minestrone. On this day again, there wasn’t any cream of mushroom and I ordered minestrone instead.
A few months ago, Pastamania introduced fried rice, Prawn Riso, as well as some others like brinjal and mushroom. This is the second time I am eating Prawn Riso. I am sharing it with Clara. It is just a small portion. The first time I ate was more and I thought the two of us could share it. But who knows this time the portion was so small. It costs about $8.50 before GST.
I do not know where is the Best sphagetti in Singapore, but I have tried various places, and Ricsson only like Pastamania Sphagetti. In restaurants, some sphagetti cost as much as more than $20 but their Sphagetti was not nice at all. Ricsson still like Pastamania. On Monday, I discovered that they have delivery now. But their delivery is restricted to only certain places:
Pastamania Delivery Areas: Tampines, Marine Parade, Tanjong Katong, Suntec, Shenton Way, Raffles Place, Toa Payoh, Bishan, Novena, Newton, Balestier (Tel: 6275 7555). Hope they can extend to more areas soon.
Is Pastamania the best Food in Singapore? Whether you like a food a not, it all depends on individual preference. It also depends on publicity. If the store owners do not advertiser or make themselves be known, then no matter how nice their food is, nobody would know.
