SL Business

By Peace | October 12, 2007

No more casino in Second Life. No more gambling in Second Life. What is there left for you to do in Second life? There are so many Second Life competitors out there in the internet. There are many similar sites like Second Life around. One of them is redlightscenter.com. The banning of casino in Second Life definitely has a great impact on Second Life. Business seems to have slow down a lot. This means that traffic is greatly reduced too.

In the past, there are more people who can come in to Second Life for more thrill — thrill and excitement in chatting with the opposite sex(flirting), dancing, sex, gambling and business people who are doing business in Second Life.

The main business in Second Life is selling textures, clothes, scripts, skins, body shapes, houses, gadgets and furniture. People who need to sell these things need to rent or buy land. Sales of land and rental of land goes to property owners, the real estate specialist. To attract people to your shops, people set up clubs, parks, castles and gardens. What other things can you really do in Second Life? The ‘turnover rate’ in Second Life is very hard too. Today you make some friends and tomorrow some of these friends will be missing forever. There is a few ‘loyal’ ones around.

Though there are other Second Life competitors around, Second Life is still the leading ones. None has managed to ‘win’ SL yet. Take redlightcenter for example, I found that their graphics are not that fantastic. I would not want my avatar to look ugly. I think the avatar is very important. However, one thing which makes this two sites very similar is their sex availability. This is not my priority and as in Second Life, I am not crazy about this two.

If Second Life is a good place to earn money, I would be busy in Second Life now. I would say that Second Life is really a game, something that you can afford to put aside some of your money to ‘play’. If you really want to earn money out of it, you got to be special. Be unique. Otherwise what makes you different from the rest?

Lately, more business were closed down. Lion City was gone as well. Gold Rush used to be so successful, but now most are just barren land now. Castles used to have casino. Now all you can see is only sex balls and dancing balls. What other excitements are there? For newbies perhaps all is fresh and fun. But how long is that going to last?
