CastleWorks
By Peace | October 29, 2007
I love to take pictures as I explore Second Life. It helps me to capture those beautiful moments. I had coupled it with Gallen Lo song. This is one of the nice song he sang. I had one of his song as my handphone ringtone.
This is a land, Sooseunhwa, that is next to Topgol. Richard Palace has some lands at Topgol. This beautiful castle is somewhere near to Topgol. I was at Topgol, flying around and I happened to see it.
I must say this is a beautiful castle. Although the surrounding area is not so nice(as there are lands for sales and other undeveloped lands around, consider the castle alone and its interior decorations and its community is such a wonderful piece of work. I do not check who is the owner. I checked on the land area. If I am not wrong, it is made up of two lands — 4096 square metres and ~16k square metres (0.25 of a sim).
This castle is very similar to Castle Argh but they are not the same. Castle Argh is not as big as this castle. There were casinos at Castle Argh. I do not know if Castle Argh is still around. If they are still around, their casinos would not be around too. Like Avilion Castle, this is a medieval community, consisting of Medieval castles and medieval village. Unlike Avilion Castle, I did not see anyone at the castle, nor at the village. Perhaps I went at the wrong time.
Avilion Castle is more of a dancing ballroom. There were no fireplace, no beautiful rooms in the castle. At Castleworks, I can see so many furniture, paintings and even food in the castle. It is a wonderful piece of work by the creator. It is not easy. The chandelier, water fountain, study room, everything there is great! The texture is so perfect. The castle bricks and walls really looks old and ‘mossy’(especially the floor). I love that!
These are the things that I looked out for when walking around Castles. The texture, the flooring, the tiles, windows, the doors, every little details are important.

After admiring the close view, I must see the overall picture, the whole castle, how each and every part is connected to one another.

I do not know if Avilion Castle is still around. Second Life places change very fast. Today you see them there, the next day, you may not see the place anymore. I have not finished Avilion Castle tour in fact. Their wonderful Medieval Village and cottages is the reason for me to visit them again.
Which is a better Castle? The two are equally good. But if you want a nice scenery, Avilion Castle is the best. If you want touraments, a real taste of medieval life and spirit, Castleworks seems a favourable place for that. If only the neighbouring lands can match that of Castleworks, that would complete the puzzle. In SL, just like in our real life, our neighbouring lands affect our land values too.
The creator or owner must have spent a lot of time building the castle. With no more casinos in SL, Second Life is a place for people to build dreams — dreams which real life can never be achieved such as castles. For people who love to play with legos, bricks and designs, Second Life is a good place to ‘play’, for them to fantasize and to build their imagination. Space is a constraint in real life for most people living in flats, apartments or condominium. In Second Life, you can build as high up the sky as you can or as wide and far as you can afford to. With no casinos, social gathering and building your dreams seems to dominate any other purpose.
