Nursing Course

If only there were Nursing Degree available several years back, I could be a staff nurse by now. My GCE ‘O’ Level result was good. I was able to enter the college or polytechnic. I can also start working, be a nurse studying at the nursing school in the hospital. Back then, the pay was very low. For ‘O’ level students, allowance of about S$750 if I remember correctly was given, and training was two years. For ‘A’ Level students, allowance was slightly more, perhaps about S$900, but these were not degree programs. They were merely certificate of nursing. I was not keen on the ‘qualification’, but I was very interested in the nature of the job.
I gave up ‘Certificate of Nursing’ and I continued with my studies. Few years back, I saw more healthcare courses available in the Polytechnic and now there are even Nursing Degree in the local Universities. How nice! But it is not for me any more.
