Teochew Porridge
By Peace | November 10, 2007

I swam longitudinally about 8 lapse, it was such a long time since I last gone for a swim. But I do not like to swim at Casablanca. The water is too shallow.
Went Casablanca For Swimming
This is a picture of Casablanca pool taken while waiting for Ricsson and Richard. They had went to the steaming room. The water in the pool was so cold today. We went to the swimming pool at about 4.30pm. When I reached there, I called my brother. He told me that Vanessa had just gone home from her swimming lesson. Nevertheless, she still joined us later on.
Cold Weather, Cold Water
The water was extremely cold. There was no sun today. Even Richard was scared to go into the water. I was very angry with him. He was the one who said want to go swimming but in the end, he was the one who did not want to swim. He just sat on the bench playing his games. I got fed up with him and told him off. Next he went into the pool finally.
Swimming Lesson
I was very amazed at Vanessa. She could swim so well! The maid told me that she had just attended perhaps about 8 lessons. Each lesson is S$20 per hour (group lesson). This is very good income for the swimming instructor.
Mum Not at home, Maid looks different
Today I saw the maid, appeared very differently from before. She is much prettier, so much prettier. I told Richard and he said she put on make-up. He is very good at looking at girls or women! When I had the opportunities to go closer to talk to her, indeed, she put on make-up. Although the make-up is not obvious, they were make-up because I could see the eye-shadows. While talking to her, I saw some marks on her neck (reddish marks). Well, what else can it be, or have I imagined too much? Today, when she just walked with Vanessa to the pool, I saw something white in her hands. I wonder if that was MP3 or her handphone. She certainly was very different. In the past, she used to join the children (looked after the children) in the pool too. Today, she was dressed differently, with make-up and something (MP3 or handphone) in her hand, sat the bench to watch us.
Maid Cooked Teochew Porridge, 潮洲粥, ‘teochew mueh’
My brother did not come down to join us. I did not get to see him today. He had invited us to his home for dinner, but in the end the maid brought us the food downstairs. We had dinner by the pool. It was such a nice meal I had, though they were not anything special. It was just simple porridge, with pickles, luncheon meat, fried fish burger, chicken nuggets, canned peanuts and abalone! The children all wanted abalone. I gave them mine. They even asked for more. The porridge was warm, just nice after feeling so cold from swimming in the pool. Clara was shivering and she was the first one to come out of the pool. I joined her since I had to look after her. I brought her to the steaming room immediately after she had come out of the pool.
Best Teochew Porridge
This is simple Teochew porridge I like. I used to eat Teochew porridge at Bukit Gombak. The TeoChew porridge at the coffee shop was available 24 hours. There were steamed squids, fish and vegetables and fish cakes. I missed the Teochew Porridge there. However, today I ate the best porridge. Hot porridge, simple, tasty and something which was being served, I did not have to cook myself. It was so nice being served — just like when I was a kid, my mother did all the cooking and I just need to eat her food.

[...] However, it is a truth that work really takes up a lot of time in today’s society. When there are children in the family, and where both parents are working, it is a question mark whether a not to keep a dog. Many times, we see the maid washing cars for the owners too. The maid has to do almost EVERYTHING for the owner. This includes looking after children while swimming. My brother’s maid need to change into swimming costumes and be in the pool with the kids previously. I saw the maid very ‘obedient’ and she was not that pretty. However, on Saturday, she was different, very different. [...]
