Ricsson’s Birthday

Ricsson’s Birthday Cake
This is Ricsson’s birthday cake. He had chosen this cake from Prima Deli. Normally he likes to eat Pandan Cake at Bengawan Solo, but I was surprised that he would want to have something different this time.

Cunning Salespeople
The sales staff was rather deceitful. We were standing in front of the cake counter for a long time and nobody served us. I went into the shop to ask one of the staff then. Ricsson pointed the cake which he wanted. On closer look, the peaches looked not fresh at all. They were probably put there at the display shelves for days. I asked if there were any new ones in the fridge. She was fast to say that that was the last piece they had. She attempted to open the fridge and just take a few glimpse. I asked again just to make sure that she really checked. Her answer was again “NO”. I told Ricsson that we could always buy another one, at Bengawan Solo or Four Leaves. Furthermore, Bengawan Solo has nicer cakes than Prima Deli.

There is always better ones if only you have money
We were about to leave. I did not want to buy something that is not fresh at all. I asked her again, just in case SHE would want to change her mind. This time, she opened the fridge and said there was one last piece in the fridge! I asked her to opened up the cake, she did. It was so nice and so fresh! All the peaches and Longans looked fresh. They tasted fresh, back home when we ate them. Though they were not fresh fruits, they were fresh as from the cans.

Just have to know their sales tactics
This kind of sales tactics are often practiced by shops. They often try to clear the display set, or attempt to ‘push’ their non-saleable items first. If you do not insist on what you want, you would have got yourself something not valued for what you paid. We had to learn to be smart!

Good Food Favourite Food
This is the food we ate on Ricsson’s birthday. We went to Crystal Jade Palace at Causeway Point. The night before, Richard and I were guessing what he wanted to eat on his birthday. We kept laughing when what Ricsson said were exactly what we had thought. His favourite food is sharks fins, frog legs and mango pudding. However, on that day, Crystal Jade had no mango pudding. So we ordered Honey Dew Sago instead.

This is Crystal Jade Palace, taken after we had finished eaten. As we were waiting for the bill to come, I took some pictures of it.

Finally My Favourite
I had a wonderful meal. I had not eaten such tasty food for a long time. I ordered drunkard prawns and scallops on that day. I had graving for them. I missed eating fresh prawns and fresh scallops. The best part of the prawns were really the head. I love the juice from the head. They were so fragrant.

Gone were the days
The scallops were very delicious. They were cooked with minced garlic, with rice vermecilli. Clara ate plain noodles. Richard ate plain porridge. He does not like seashells. I love to eat cockles, scallops and oysters. As he does not like to eat these food, I hardly ate them. When I was staying with my parents, I always had good food to eat. I missed eating ‘gong gong’ and ‘la la’ too.
