Valentine’s Day Snack
Today I cooked Nian Gao(Chinese New Year Cake - 年糕 - 年高) for snack. My Second Brother had given it to me for this Chinese New Year. I had never bought any Nian Gao before and neither had I Fried any Nian Gao before. Almost every year, I got to eat Nian Gao at my mother’s house. Surprisingly, this year, I did not get to eat Nian Gao at her place. Instead, I got to have it at my own place.
Valentine’s Day Dinner
Had to go Causeway Point to buy Digital Chinese Dictionary for Ricsson. That makes our Valentine’s Day Dinner at Causeway Point. We left the house at 5pm and we went to Popular Bookstore. Yesterday, the stock for Besta Chinese Digital Dictionary was no more and they told me to check again today. I saw boxes at the counter. The salesgirl said we need to wait for at least half an hour before she could enter to us. Finally, after roaming around Popular, half an hour reached and Ricsson got to buy his Besta Chinese Digital Dictionary — a brand which teacher recommended over Creative. Valerie had Creative Chinese Digital Dictionary, but both were out of order now. She had also reserved for Besta Chinese Digital Dictionary. Her first Creative Chinese Digital Dictionary lasted not more than 2 months!
Valentine’s Day Special
We ate at Horizon Food Mall. Today Horizon Food Mall was rather quiet — plenty of vacant seats, no need to search for seats at all. However, you can see all the restaurants packed with people. Outside restaurants like Jack’s Place, Swenson and Dian Xiao Er and many more, you can see long queues of people awaiting to dine in the restaurants. That explain the scarcity of people at the food court. Ricsson said,” Wow, Jack’s Place today earn a lot of money!” There were hearts balloon at the restaurants. Flowers shop, Xpress Flowers, were crowded with men — men buying roses for their lovers.
Valentine’s Day Gifts
Back at the Horizon Food Mall, we seen a few young couples who chose to celebrate this special day at the Food Court. We had seen two couples around our table. One man gave the girlfriend a bouquet of roses, while another gave the girlfriend a stalk of rose. The most attractive gift we had seen was a woman carrying a very big teddy bear, the size of half her body!
Gift of Giving Gift is Glad
As I had tuition with Valerie, we had to rush home. Before that, Richard had to appease Clara. He had made her cry again. She brought him to Mini Toons. There she finally decided to buy Voodoominis. They were so cute, and in the end we decided to buy one for each of us. There are Love charm, Health charm and Career/Studies Charm. All of us chose Career/Studies Charm. I had chosen one for Valerie too. I spent some time looking at all the Voodoominis, wondering which would best suit her. In the end, I bought one with long hair, that would quite resemble her and I hope she can do well in her studies. That would convey my love for her and my best wishes for her. I was a bit late for Tuition. I gave her the gift, and she said “Thank You”. It is such a nice feeling to give something, especially a gift which you had chosen specially, for someone. I hope she will like it.
