Home For The Soul

By Peace | August 16, 2008

I was reading the newspaper on 16th August 2008, at just a few minutes past midnight — it was just after the incident of the lizard….

Flipping through the Straits Times, I came to the obituary, something which interest me… It was the name and the date and the quotes which aroused me. The page contains all the dead on 11th August 2008, with only a few on other dates, like 7th August, 10th August and no one on 8th August 2008 on that day (8.8.08, the ‘auspicious day).

Obituary
On the 11 August 2008, these four prominent figures on the page was shown:

Joseph Yeo Han Pio, born 24 September 1938, age 70 passed away Peacefully On 11 August 2008.

Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved… Benedict XVI

George Khaw Say Yeow, age 93, was called home to be with the Lord on 11 August 2008.

For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. ~ John 3:16

Koh Sie Niah, Mary, Age 88, was called home to be with the Lord on 11 August 2008.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell forever and ever. ~ Psalm 23

John Tan Kim Seck, 76 years old, Called to rest in the Lord’s embrace on 11 August 2008. Dearly missed and fondly remembered by loved ones…

For we know that when this tent we live in – our body here on earth- is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home He himself has made, which will last forever. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:1

Singer Isaac Hayes and his wife, Adjowa, with their newborn son, Nana Kwadjo, in 2006.

Memphis (Tennessee): Isaac Hayes, the soul crooner who laid the groundwork for disco and whose struting, funky Theme From Shaft won both Oscar and Grammy awards, died on Sunday afternoon. He was 65. He was pronounced dead in the hospital an hour after he was found collapsed near a treadmill by his wife, Adjowa, the authorities said. The cause of death was not known…. Strait Times 12 August 2008

I was deeply touched….

After I had finished the post about Mystery of Salvation, I was ‘led’ to the page of Mother Teresa, and I read about her article on abortion. I was very grieved….. my tears rolled down my cheeks as I read the article. All the words were like ‘Mother Teresa talking to me’….. Richard asked me,”Why I cry?” But always I told him, he never understands…..
