The Rock of The Church

God’s Chosen Servant
When Jesus heard about the plot against him, he went away from that place; and large crowds followed him. He healed all this sick and gave them orders not to tell others about him. He did this so as to make come true what God had said through the prophet Isaiah:
Here is my servant,
whom I have chosen,
the one I love, and
with whom I am pleased.
I will send my Spirit upon him,
and he will announce
my judgment to the nations.
He will not argue or shout,
or make loud speeches in the streets.
He will not break off a bent reed,
nor put out a flickering lamp.
He will persist until he causes justice to triumph,
and on him all peoples will put their hope.”
~ Matthew 12: 15-21

Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God’s sight chosen and precious; and like living stones be yourselves built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Once you were no people but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy but now you have received mercy. (St Peter)
6th September 2008, 5.36pm Woodlands Blk 336: And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
Peter’s Declaration about Jesus
Jesus went to the territory near the town of Caesarea Philippi, where he asked his disciples,”Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
“Some say John the Baptist,” they answered. “Others say Elijah, while others say Jeremiah or some other prophet.”
“What about you?” he asked them. “who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered,”You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
“Good for you, Simon son of John!” answered Jesus. “For this truth did not come to you from any human being, but it was given to you directly by my Father in heaven. And so I tell you, Peter: You are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.”
Then Jesus ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
