St Anthony’s Primary School

By Peace | September 18, 2008

School Crest of St Anthony’s Primary School: “Crescit Eundo” means “Growing as we advance

I was indeed suprised, filled with awe, at EVERYTHING I SEE, dreamed (wishes and in my dreams)… INCREDIBLE… even the numbers…. This picture was taken on 12th September 2008, in the evening, and that is why it is so dark.

When Ricsson was still in my womb, I was in the real estate business. My dream was to send him to St Anthony’s Primary School. I wanted him to attend Catholic kindergarten like I had used to…

But all was not according to my plans.

But it turned out to be something ‘unusual’ and unexpected…

On this day, we went to Bukit Batok, purposely…. First we had Teochew Porridge at Bukit Gombak and then we walked to my mother’s house.

I purposely choose to walk to my mother’s house from Bukit Gombak. I wanted to see the schools, especially St Anthony’s Primary School…. One day, as I was in the taxi, I saw a statue at the school. Until now, I did not know what is the statue… so on this day, 12th September 2008, I wanted to see the statue…

A shot of St Anthony Primary School from the entrance just before the security guard post.

WOW, I was so happy to see this! It is so inspiring, so nice — the Cross and the words: Let us always remember the holy presence of God!

I ‘begged’ the security guard to let me go in front of the statue to see the details of the words and the staute. The guard was not friendly, and very ‘kiasi’ (scared of death). He told me to just take the photographs from outside the fence, but it was so dark, and there was no lamp beside the statue! I spent a FEW MINUTES begging and ‘explained’ to him…. The statue is JUST in front of the security post, and where else can I go? He can see me, and I won’t go any further into the school! Then he said,”I will not be responsible for anything har!” Of course lar, what will happen to me?

Took a photo of this words under the statue, and I was so touched to see it was St John the Baptist!

Luckily got flashlight and my camera captured a picture of it, and I came home, ABLE to read the words. I could not see any words at all when I was there…

St John Baptist de La Salle (30th April 1651 - 7th April 1719) , patron of Teachers…

So inspiring, so touched….. What a beautiful bronze sculpture of St John Baptist De La Salle (1651-1719), Founder of Lasallian Schools
