Mount Alvernia Hospital
This must be the best hospital. I feel so at home. I am FREE to do anything. I am ALLOW to take photographs, I am ALLOW to wonder…. I am back to this place, Mount Alvernia Hospital. I had my both my babies deliver here at MAH.
The medium said that I cannot attend any ‘ang pek shi’ (red white matters = anything like wedding, funeral…) for at least a year. I wanted to go and see Lim Chan. Richard ‘forbid’ at first due to what the medium said. I called my mother, and she did not say anything. It was my inspiration, I must go.
Beautiful Gardens at Mount Alvernia Hospital
I was so happy, so happy to reach there, Mount Alvernia Hospital. Seeing the statue of Mary with the child, I was really moved… I was so surprised that there was a big statue of Mary carrying baby Jesus just on top of the building. It was so nice, so nice.
Upon arrival at the entrance of the hospital, I saw the statue of St Francis with a bird. I was so scared that I could not take photo of it. But in the end, when I got in, I was shooting non-stop! This is really doing what they preach — respecting the inherent dignity of each person… the nurses are good!
Blessed Stone: My Soul doth Magnify the Lord…
At the reception, beside the Statue of St Francis, there is this stone, blessed, and it is indeed “BLESSED”, Blessed Day, Blessed Nation, Blessed people.…..
Mount Alvernia Hospital Book: To know about the past of this hospital, the founding, etc was so interesting…. but I have no time to read…. At the official website, this is what they wrote about the history: Mount Alvernia Hospital was founded in 1961 by a group of Catholic Sisters from the Franciscan Missionaries of the Divine Motherhood (FMDM). Saw this book (above: Mount Alvernia Hospital) near the enclosed garden inside the hospital. I wanted to read. I brought the book to the lobby, where Richard and the children were sitting. I wanted to spend sometime reading it, but was not allowed… there was no internet connection at the hospital. Richard said he could only connect to the hospital but not able to surf other sites. He was very angry, not able to do anything there. He wanted to go home immediately.
Disappointed, I returned the book after flipping a few pages.
Next, we went upstairs again to visit Lim Chan. The first time we went, the room was crowded, and that is why we decided to come back again later.

In the year 1997, when I need to be warded for some complications after pregnancy, the toilet was not as good as now. Lim Chan opted for single bedroom, and as usual, the single bedroom is always taken up. They had this double-bed instead. But it was not bad. The toilet is very nice and clean. It could even be better if the floor tiles were filled with white cement. It would be best if they could have internet connection…… and by the time I should come here next time, Richard could ‘enjoy’ internet connection while keeping me company!
