Singapore NS Man

By Peace | April 5, 2009

It is useless and bad to talk about this, but it is a fact. I simply do not understand what MAN learned in NS or National Service. You go BMT, Basic Military Training for three months, and then what you do for the rest of the years? You built up your physical strength perhaps, but what about other aspect of life? Do you come home to become the commando hero and once out of school your learning stop?

Outcome of National Service
We saw in the newspaper, MAN abusing maid, NS MAN, in their uniform some more. What has MAN learn in their NS really! We saw in the news also, Man bully man, and poor NS man died in the process… Children are so precious nowadays, and it is not easy to raise them. Is that the ultimate result we want to get in the near future? Do you want your son to be one of such victim or even worse?

Our children are going to NS in future. I wonder what exactly happens inside the camp! Are they protecting the country by such means (guns, rifles, all the fighting and defence system)? I never go NS and hardly know anything about it. All I can learn from it is through the media. And from what I observe from people around me (those who had finished their NS, ORD). After they ORD, they are free men. They enjoyed higher pay than women, and they are stronger perhaps physically. But what happened once they are out of camps, just like out of school? No policeman! They are king, free to do anything, learned those commando skills from camp, practice in the home?

Are you protecting the country?
Man raping woman. Man abusing wife. Man gambling. Man divorcing wife. Man abusing maid. The list goes on. (This is not talking about all man. There are still good man and still bad woman around. But we always want to solve problems or make problems become smaller.)

Strength of Man
I don’t know about all men, but at least there is such man who exist whom I would like to talk about.

When I was working, I was like an octopus — at least I don’t have to do housework, but ‘supervise’ my maid, and looked after her as well. I had to buy groceries, and all the marketing as well. Whenever I knocked off from work, I would buy things back. I had to carry my handbag as well as the laptop at times (if no laptop, still another document bag). My hands are always full of things and I had to walk home from Causeway Point. Do you think they were light?

But look here. Bicycle cannot carry weights — heavy was the answer. And his bicycle was not maintained properly (not being care for), the pedals dropped, the basket spoiled… Fine. Bicycle cannot carry heavy weights. What about people? Carry a few plastic bags also said heavy — going to die, grumble and threw temper.

I could have carry myself if I am not pregnant now. My mother offered to help. But I said No, I carried myself two bags also, but lighter weight as his. And on this day, since we were taking taxi, my mother gave us more things.

These bags were what he was supposed to carry.

These two bags were what I carried.

That Is Called NS Man, strength of NS Man
Mind you, I have to walk around with my big tummy — already not easy and painful, walking like a penguin or duck! And yet he is carrying nothing in his body, and said he is suffering!!

This is the so called Trained Singapore National Service Man, capable of protecting our country.

Got Brain?
Lying on the bed, I am considered Good Life!!! How I wish I can walk around! I got lots of work to be done. I lying down, nobody do my work! Can he understand, and would he believe me though I always tell him that? Man, this is one man whom is another ‘gift’ from God, to ‘train’ me, to test my patience, to test my perseverance.

(To be continued)

Apparently you have issues with your husband so talk to him and not simply blog about it.

This has nothing to do with ‘men’ or ‘ns’.
