Torchbearer of God

I am the TorchBearer of God…

Myrtle Beach is a coastal resort city in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. It was incorporated as a town in 1938 and became a city in 1957. After its original founding and incorporation, a contest was held to name the town. At that time, wax myrtle (Myrica cerifera), an evergreen shrub that has serrate leaves and small berrylike fruit with a waxy coating, grew abundantly in that area. The Wax Myrtle is native to the southeastern United States which stretches from North Carolina to Texas. Burroughs’ wife suggested honoring the locally abundant shrub and gave the town a new name, Myrtle Beach.

History records that the first tourists here were a party of Spaniards from Hispaniola, who landed about 50 miles north of present-day Myrtle Beach and, in 1526, eventually established the first European settlement in the U.S. about 30 miles to the south. Myrtle Beach has rapidly developed into a major tourist destination in the Southeastern United States in the latter 20th century and 2000s.

Today, Myrtle Beach is a well known destination for vacationers from around the country, Canada and abroad. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce reports that approximately 13 million visitors head to the Myrtle Beach area every year, many of them from North Carolina. Year-round visitors and vacationers are attracted to the area’s abundance of Myrtle Beach Accommodations, dining and shopping opportunities, world-class golf courses, impressive array of live entertainment venues and profusion of attractions. According to the 2000 Census, the city is at the heart of the 13th fastest growing metropolitan area in the U.S!

Hard Rock Cafe at Myrtle Beach

The City of Myrtle Beach is the heart of the Grand Strand, a 60-mile crescent of beach on South Carolina’s northern coast. One of the must-see for every local and visitor to the Grand Strand is the Cafe pyramid of Hard Rock Cafe, Myrtle Beach. The Hard Rock Cafe pyramid stands at 70 feet tall and features an ancient Egyptian-themed motif.

Attractions of Myrtle Beach include themed water parks, amusement rides, museums (educational and plain fun), arcades, go-dart tracks, sightseeing cruises and a lot more. I have never been to Myrtle Beach before. But I am grateful that the internet has allowed me to ‘see’ Myrtle Beach, let me have a ‘feel’ of Myrtle Beach, it allowed me to have a touch of horseshoe crabs again…

Horseshoe crabs are my childhood ‘toys’… It was so filled with beautiful memories and experience. Our family used to go to the beaches. It was Punggol beach that we frequent during those days. I used run barefoot, picking up horseshoe crabs on the shore. I love the smell of the sea. How I wish to be present at the beach now.

God has let me experienced life — first, being loved…. the comfort and sweet feeling of being loved, served and cared for by my parents. Next, I had to grow up, discovering what is life all about, being independent. The trials of life has taught me so many lessons on life. It is through all these trials that we learned…

Myrtle Beach has a self-proclaimed title known as “Golf Capital of the World”.

The City of Myrtle Beach serves the public in an outstanding manner, providing “First In Services” — sound amazing and impressive! With First In Service as their Philosophy, their creed is still centred on Service, the acronym as shown below:

Safety — Comes First
Excellence — Constantly Improving
Respect — For Ourselves and Others
Value — The Individual and the Organization
Integrity — Fairness and Honesty
Communication and Courtesy — To All
Education — Knowledge to Help
