Beware of “Home Tutor”
Let’s Move Ahead, Hand-in-hand and Come Together in this “Our Interconnected World”
I had a ‘torturous’ long dream… dream of Fisherman (nickname of this person), Richard, my father, my brothers, my children and lots of children. Some of the details of the dream I cannot remember, the main gist of it still remains. Fisherman came to invite me for a meal. My father was the ‘witness’, he was present at home, and saw Fisherman came to the home. I was reluctant to go. I can feel ‘suffocated’, the way he handled his affairs… I don’t like it. He earns so much money, as much as 4 to 5 times of what I could earn annually when I was working at Prudential. However, he was so ‘stingy’ when it comes to money and kids…
In the dream, I was at an attic later. It was a small attic, rather low. I was trying to walk through this special attic which consists of many children ‘coming out’ later. So many children walking out of the ‘rooms’. One stairs and one walkways appeared one by one, all emerging from the ‘rooms’ and I had to give way to these walking little children. These children were dressed very colourfully in home clothes (no school uniforms). They were all happy and cheerful.
Walking through these children, giving way to the children and the stairs and the special pathways, I am supposed to go fetch my children at the other side of the ‘room’ (where my children are supposed to be). I have come to fetch the children home. Strangely, I was on the lift now. The lift is going up. I was not alone. Seemed like Fisherman was with me… Prior to this, I was stucked in the dirty toilet for quite some time and ‘talking’ to some women…
Soon, I was sitting in my brother’s car with Richard. The car arrived at a Delicious Drive-In Chicken Rice stall. We could not decide how many packets of Chicken Rice to buy. I called my eldest brother and then wanted to call my mother and father as well, but in the end, after talking to my eldest brother, I decided to buy four packets. But Richard told me they had already ordered… It was very messy. Soon, Richard was explaining to me, drawing on the dining table rectangles and words telling me about Halal and non-halal items…
That’s all for this dream and this dream is about money, children, food and relationships. I think these are the main things in our lives. Who can live without food and who can live without money (to buy food) and who can be able to live alone (without friends and ultimately in a relationship). And finally, thinking of yourself and your children — between you and your children.
This is a big topic which involves humankind and it is not so simple as one post would finish it all. But let’s look at this school which I had taught before (in the year 1998, the year of the Holy Spirit). Something sad happened when I taught in this school, which I would mention next time. Yesterday, I went to Woodlands Mart and I decided to walk past this school. This is not my first time I wanted to look at this school, since I had taught in this school, it has meaning to me, it contains my precious memories of my ‘teaching years’.
Walking past the school, I discovered the same old problem of having “Home Tuition” advertisements hanging at the fence of the school. Previous banners had already been removed and now this one is still hanging on the school fence (as shown below).

As I walked, I saw three girls in the school uniform talking near the school gate. After passing this gate and the main entrance of the school, I saw another “Home Tuition” advertisements as shown in the photograph below.

At Si Ling Primary School, this same thing happens. This kind of Home Tuition advertisement is not legitimate. A good tutor is one who is reliable and he/she has a great influence on the students. Just imagine, what kind of person is this person who go round ‘pinning’ or ‘pasting’ or putting up advertisements like this on the school compound? Is this a love for the country? Will you THINK first before you do business with this sort of people or organization?
