White Flowers
By Peace | September 7, 2010
Plants are indeed so MAGICAL… It is said that white flowers symbolise spirituality, protection, happiness and encouragement.
Jasmine or 茉莉花 (photograph above) is such a fragrant flower. On the day before I decided to buy it, I held the pot near my nose, and to my surprise, the smell is so strong and fragrant! I love the pot of plant at first sight. I had not bought any plants for centuries… thinking it is a waste of money. But on this day, at 888 Plaza, I wanted to buy this pot of plant!
I had always like this flower, and the last time I ‘had this feeling’ was two years back! My right hand had just got better — at my palm, there is a sore, a broken blister… Above, you can see the photograph of the Jasmine flower buds. What a lovely flower. I did not know that the Chinese name for Jasmine is actually 茉莉花 (mo li hua) until the saleswoman told me that! I bought the pot of plants for $7 or $8 (cannot remember the right price). Indian women always love to put these flowers on their hair or as offerings to their ‘gods’, and even in the church!
On that day when I bought this pot of Jasmine, Richard also wanted to buy this pot of flowers (also about $7 or $8) — photograph below (Japanese Morning Glory). This is not the first time we bought this flowers. The last time we bought this flowers was many years back at the nursery. We were staying at Blk 827 and the flowers just died…
This time, what makes us want to buy again??? This is perhaps ‘fate’, really ‘fate’… Whenever I looked at this plant, I was reminded of the ‘security guard‘ at the factory…. he had taught me how to plant this flower. At that time, I do not know the name of this flower.
On the day we bought 2 pots of plants from this lady, we asked him for the name of this flowers. She told us it is called “Japanese Morning Glory”… okay so it is Japanese Morning Glory (common names of plants….)
Since the day we bought these two plants, Jasmine flowers dropped, budded again, flowered again and so on… The same thing for the Japanese morning glory. Richard had tried to spread the Japanese morning glory flowers to other pot, as seen by this photograph below:
This pot of plant is actually a very old plant that had survived for so long. It is what the Chinese called 铁树 (metal tree — no wonder its name as such… since it is such a ‘hardy’ plant, so easy to manage — require little care! It is an old tree which we had bought for $15 if I am not wrong from the nursery also. For at least 13 years it is with us now.
For so many days since the day we bought this Japanese Morning Glory, we had seen the flowers, the various colours of the flowers — yellow, magenta, orange and orange/red. Since the day we bought the flowers, we had never seen it contains white flowers. But surprisingly, today, 7 September 2010… 7.9.10 white flower appeared!!! What’s more, I had a dream of Japan/Japanese and Richard came into the room, announcing the blossom of the white flower! And this morning, the sky was so ‘weird’ and I saw a crescent moon at about 6am or so.
However, with the appearance of this white Japanese Morning Glory, the rest of the flowers does not seem to opened. Even my Jasmine plant is ‘barren’, with no buds and not a single flower… all withered and dropped.
