The Transition Cat

The Transition Cat

The turn of a century always seems to bring about anticipation for change

Art Movement
From Classicism To Romanticism: Classicism is a philosophy for art — and life in general — that emphasizes order, balance, simplicity, and lack of emotional extremes.Romanticism became the dominant style of arts, philosophy, and literature throughout the entire nineteenth century.

Symphony no. 6, Opus 68, Pastoral
As the word “pastoral” suggests, this work attempts to re-create the experience of going into a woodland setting. Beethoven composed it while staying at Heiligenstadt, the same place where he wrote his famed testament in 1802. Even in the 19th century, cities were crowded, noisy, and polluted. Many people, not just Beethoven, desired to escape the city to get some fresh air in a more natural setting. Listening to the Pastoral Symphony today, one can imagine how Beethoven felt when he went on one of his woodland retreats.

The symphony is divided into 5 movements, with titles suggestive of the themes, and feelings that the composer hoped to communicate. The first movement is called “Awakening of Cheerful Feelings on Arriving in the Country”. The second is “Scene by the Brook”, which is followed by “Merry Gathering of the Country Folk” and “Thunderstorm”. It concludes with “Shepherd’s Song — Happy, Thankful Feelings after the Storm”. Clearly, Beethoven associated his rural retreats with joyful times, which he shared with his listeners.

Dinosaur Playground Table

On this special night, 24 September 2010, Dinosaur Playground was flooded again.  The playground was dark.  At another pathway, the pathway just beside Blk 826 and behind Kidney Dialysis Centre (that is, the place where I had caught a dove on Good Friday, 2009) was equally dark.  Over here, this passageway was used by so many people every day, walking from their home to the Woodlands Regional Centre (Causeway Point , Woodlands MRT Station or Bus Interchange).

On this day, at Fu Shan Garden until the mentioned Pathway above (picture below), we saw SO MANY CATS, as many as 7-9 Cats!!!  The last cat being seen was the Transition Cat as shown above.  It was a peculiar day…. THE CAT’s DAY….

HOMICIDE and Natural Death
It was mentioned in the news about a woman’s death at Woodlands on Lantern’s Festival… and yesterday, at Marsiling, there was another 2 deaths (father and son), and today, the death of a DOCTOR…

Cat’s EYES
At this PATHWAY, there are three mango trees and 2 tembusu trees.  On this peculiar night of 24 September 2010, I saw a real cat on my left, a grey one.  On the right, where two tembusu trees are located, Clara ran to me saying that she saw another cat…  She saw the cat JUMPED…  The place was EXTREMELY dark.  It was said that at the other side of Woodlands where the homicide had occurred, the place was too dark.  But the same thing here.  I could not see what it was, but under the TEMBUSU TREE, there was really a figure that looked like a cat.  I used my camera and took a photograph of it — since the camera has light (Flash Light).  It was only then that I know that the figure that seem to resemble a cat was a STONE, a broken concrete slab…

The Stoning of Stephen and its Significance
Jesus stood in heaven to honor the death of the first Christian martyr.  Hours before His death, Jesus said He was going to go sit at the right hand of His Father, and Mark 16:19 corroborates that He did just that.

The Right Hand of God
The Old Testament of the Holy Bible often relates the “right hand of God” with the Messiah. Several of the Psalms, including 17, 18, 60 and 78, indicate God saves and sustains His people by his right hand. Psalm 44 says that Israel won their land through God’s right hand.

Psalm 110, the great Messianic psalm sung by David, shows God the Father saying to Christ, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” The gospels in the New Testament present Jesus as sitting at this special place near God after His ascension to heaven.
