A Good Deed

因果:因为。。。所以。。。
Everything happens for a reason. One day, after Richard, Isaac and Me had reached somewhere near the lift lobby of Blk 825 (the block of flat with Woodlands Dialysis Centre at the first floor or ground level), rain started to pour. We were so lucky on that day. Thank You Jesus.

Since it began to rain, our normal walking routes home could not be taken. We had to make a detour instead — a whole big circle we are taking in order to reach our flat. This is due to the way the covered walkways are being linked from one block of flat to the other flat. If we had not walked around the neigbourhood before, we would not know which way to walk to our home. But because we had been staying in Woodlands for so long, and walking around for so long, we had a mind-map on how to walk around the covered walkways so that we can go home without having to open our umbrella.

We could have walked home from lift lobby near Woodlands Dialysis Centre since there is a sheltered walkway there. But this shelter would not link to the other side of the flats, but all the linking being done to the 4-storeys high flat instead…

From Blk 825, we had to walk along corridors of the flat and then sheltered linkways along Blk 829 (as shown in the photograph below).

谢天谢地
This sheltered linkway is very good. Walking along this pathways, we do not need to get ourselves wet from the rain. The sheltered pathways are spacious enough. It leads to Blk 829 and it serves Blk 830 as well…

On the right hand side of the sheltered pathway is a ramp which would lead you to Blk 830 which has Evangel Youth Centre/Woodlands Social Centre located at the ground level (first floor).  The photograph below shows the close-up view of the ramp just immediately leading from the sheltered pathway.

人口老化
On this day, we were not alone walking on this sheltered pathway. In front of us were two Malays, one standing and one sitting — A malay woman was pushing an elderly man who was sitting on a wheelchair. We were walking in different directions. They came from the other side of the pathways, but eventually we met at the ramp. They stood in front of the ramp, didn’t know what to do (it’s raining).

It dawned on me at that moment WHY it rained suddenly on that particular moment. God wanted me to SEE and WITNESS this MOMENT. Sheltered walkways and with ramp, but on rainy day, these wheelchair bound people GOT STUCK like that at the shelter! Luckily I have more than one umbrella with me. I took out the umbrellas and Richard helped them the next moment (while I looked after Isaac under the shelter, watching them.) Richard sheltered them to the lift lobby.  In the photograph, you can see the lift lobby (somewhere near the place where the woman was positioned in the photograph).

It felt so good to do good deed.  It was a happy day then.  Walking back home from this sheltered walkways was not an easy and smooth journey.  On the way, I, Myself, faced difficulties in walking THROUGH the corridors of the ‘sheltered walkways’ which are being linked to the 4-storeys HDB flats.  Among the clutters along the corridors, the worst hindrance is the bulky laundry and huge tables and cupboards.  While walking through the narrow corridors, we had to walk slowly and yet fast (to prevent getting wet from the splattering rain)… how contradictory… that is how really chaotic it is…  There was once (different day from this incident), we almost wanted to knock down the laundry clothes and racks that were being stationed at the corridor on the rainy day.  We really have difficulty walking because there was someone else walking at the other end facing us.

[...] What is kindness?  On the night of 22 February 2011, a cockroach suddenly came out from the master bedroom.  It was a huge cockroach.  Where does the cockroach comes from?  Anyway, it ran near the dining table.  Then I stepped on it lightly.  I was so hesitant to kill or not to kill it.  It is a pest.  However, it did not do any harm to me…  I stepped lightly on it, it was still moving and Richard came to catch it.  Next, the fate of the cockroach was being ‘threw’ out of the house.
