Being A Woman
By Peace | December 6, 2010
This is such a beautiful corner of QiHua Primary School. I was so inspired by its beauty. The paintings on the walls are so colourful and nicely mixed. It is really such a conducive environment for learning — it really opens up the mind of the viewer at first glance. I thought this was such a good place of learning...
It may sound so silly, but as a child, my family speaks Teochew. My friends speak Chinese and we hardly speak English. English had to be learned, so do Chinese. Language is something that had to be really exposed and be learned in the process. It is not a problem to be solved like Maths or Science. Anyway, my language is no good. But who is good in everything? If I am always bothered about my weaknesses, then I am always an unhappy person.
English is such a ‘funny’ subject — it is really a play of words in English which we called it the Vocabulary. We learned that the opposite of male is female. Being a female, there are so many ways of addressing this person. You can call this person a girl, a lady, a woman or even an old grandmother or Lao Cha Bor (Hokkien for Old woman). You can also address a woman as a mother, a housewife, a nurse and so on. All these is by what she does or her work. So this is really English, another form of arts — the play of words to IMPRESS the readers, AMUSE the readers and AROUSE the readers so that Message can be CONVEYED. For message to be conveyed, it needs ATTENTION first. How many of the people out there are really interested in READING? (especially WORDS)?
The physical differences between the opposite sex is only determined by the type of genital part it has. A person with penis is termed a boy and a man ultimately. A person with the vulva is termed a girl or a woman as mentioned above. With this external genital parts, there are hidden reproductive organs and all the associated hormones that make all the differences between the males and females.
Every women are born into different families and have different experiences in life. But I want to express my own view. Which child is born if without a woman around, the existence of mother? Which child is born if without the presence of a man? Can you think of any child or BABY that can be born WITHOUT the NEED of a MAN? And who is going to CARRY THE BABY in the WOMB for nine months and to then come to this earth?
WHICH MAN COMES TO THIS EARTH WITHOUT A MOTHER, the woman? And yet, the woman is not appreciated in this society. (congratulations to you if you have a good husband). But look at our society now. Which of the days do we not hear of bad news in the news, which are all related to the family or household matters? Divorce matters, family disputes, neighbours fight and so on. Why is this so and what is the problem?
Lots of Man are being unfaithful to their wives and even girlfriends… With the presence of babies, mothers (wives) need to care for the children. Most men would not want or have interest in this (but there are also exceptions). While the wives are busy all day long with housework, babycare, the husband flirts around and in turn strayed… does this applies to the educated families or only to the poor families?
I had seen more unfaithful marriages than faithful ones. How can there be a peaceful society when EVEN CHRISTIANS women are not abiding the laws of GOD — married woman having flings and encouraging the husband of other woman to DIVORCE the wife! This is already not the RIGHT kind of education, the END RESULT of education! (This is talking about Singaporean only. Imagine Singaporean brought up in Singapore and do this kind of thing to other families? Is this the right way of life?)
What is it like being a woman? A woman is really complete only when she experience the gift of life or motherhood. I think it is all because of the hormonal changes and circumstances that goes along with it. I had seen various women in my life — my mum, my aunt, clients, colleagues, friends, and relatives. Some wives are under the control of the husbands, most are — especially when they have no earning potential (even if they have, some are still being battered by the husband). Sad to say, I heard more divorce cases than happy marriage cases.
I am still striving and learning to be a ‘good woman’… learning to manage my family well. And this is a simple sentence with big tasks and challenges…
