 Ladies Diary 2011

Ladies Diary 2011

Barefoot
As a child, I walked around barefooted. My mother always scolded me for not wearing shoes. After my sole was being hurt, I began to wear slippers. On rainy days, I hate dirt trapping in my feet.

Trails
Walking for almost 34 years of my life, having different sorts of ‘shoes’ experiences, I had known the importance of a pair of comfortable and even protective shoes. I am very particular about the shoes I wear, especially on rainy days. I just hate my feet to get wet.

Trials
I walked even more during the year 2000, the time where I discovered my husband’s infidelity and he wanted to sell our matrimonial home. He had ‘teamed’ up with the woman. The woman called me, talked to me!!!! I cannot imagine those days I had walked…

Vocation
It’s been thirteen years (and coming to fourteen) that Richard and I had undergone our church wedding at St Mary of the Angels.  Time really flies when we are so busy.  It was 2 years since I had my first encounter of Jesus into my life.  I heard marching sound or footsteps tapping sound. Since then, I realized the meaning of calling.

Youth
Being childless, there are so much time available. I have time to go shopping, I have time to do housework and have my hobbies. I can still remember my wedding shoes — the shoes that I wore on my church wedding. It was a blue not so high heel (short-heeled) ladies shoes with a little ribbon. If I am not wrong, it is a Pierre Cardin shoes. I am not particular about the brands of the shoes, but the design, comfort and overall look is the main criteria in choosing my shoes. Now that I have another small baby (toddler), I have no time to do any shopping. Gone are the carefree days.

At the Threshold of an Era
Life has been hard and especially for women with no supportive spouse or external supports. There are so many unfortunate women in this world who had suffered in some ways or another — rape, abused, threatens, and even ‘accidental’ deaths (the recent news of the China’s soya bean farmer whose daughter was being discovered dead in the swimming pool of Sentosa Cove…) Such is the battle between the illiterate, the innocent farmers or common civilian life with the rich (which are deemed to be of power). However, is it the truth?

Church
Today, our society is so much different from our grandmother and grandfather’s time. Last time, my grandmother wore slippers to the church. I never see my grandmother wore any sneakers or ladies shoes at all. But she just wore “Japanese” slipper everywhere she went.  Today, people judge you by the clothes you wear.  You are not allowed to enter the casino with inappropriate attire.  Similarly, two churches that I knew, are telling people about the appropriate attire to wear to church.  At my parish church, they do not allow slippers.  Yet, we see so many slippers in production, and they are not cheap.  Some are just as expensive as the sneakers or ladies shoes…

Religious Institution
Singapore may be small, but it has ‘brains’.

Christmas Moth eaten by Ants

Look at the above photograph. It shows a moth which had come into the house on Christmas season (refer to my previous post on Human Colours). On 27 December 2010, it was defeated by the most cooperative animals in this world — the Ants.

Our Common Destiny
Despite the all powerful governments and leaders of the world, we all have the same common destiny as what Barefoot’s World (Barefoot Bob Hardison — 8 August 1933 – 31 January 2009) had mentioned.  Despite all the systems and laws, there are still fights, accidents (‘accidents’) and deaths occurring.  All human beings come to this world with the same mission of achieving peace, love (happiness) and harmony.  May we stand together and work towards this mission….
