A plant supported by a 'growing' stick

A plant supported by a 'growing' stick

The above photograph shows an interesting picture of a plant which is supported by another plant. At first, you would have thought that the plant is supported by a stick. But upon closer look, the stick has new leaves emerging from the main stem!

So many phone calls today… unusual day… unusual days. My eyes seemed better now. Last night, 27 January 2011, my right eye was in pain…

The Implantation
This morning, I was alone. Richard brought Isaac downstairs. At first, I thought that they came back since I heard sound in the living room. But upon analyzing, it could not be — no sound of Isaac. Next, I sensed someone approached me… but there was ‘nothing’.

Modern Parables
I continued to close my eyes, resting my eyes. I gone into dreamland. It was so nice to be in the dreamland, a world of fantasy. Who were in my dreams? Surprise, surprise. It was Prof Wee, Pokemon, Kenneth (fat fat and short short Kenneth), Francis’ father, Richard, Isaac and me.

Dream of boats, pushing the boats and all that as regards to Pokemon, Kenneth, Richard and me. A very long dream which I had forgotten the details. But I had some pictures of it. The main gist of the dream is Prof Wee and my old house.

It was my old house. The scene started at the house, the common corridor just outside the two houses of the executive apartment at all the odd level floors, starting from 3rd floor (then 5th, 7th, 9th and then 11th). My old house was on the 5th floor, which was the dream. In the dream, the flooring was green, the same as the current flooring also. At the corridor, where the stairs were, Francis’ father (went to his recent wedding), walked down the stairs. On the floor (5th floor), outside our house, there were furnitures placed outside the house. It was like our second home, an extension of our house. The furnitures were dusty because we had been dining at the other side of the house (the ‘right wing’). I came to the ‘left wing’. I felt so refreshed. There were TV (my Panasonic TV, same as my current home, which had been brought over from my old house) which was placed on a cupboard just outside the home, on the ‘left wing’. The ‘left wing’ was so neat, really just like another house. I told Richard that we would dine (and spend more time) over at this side of the house from now on since we had been ‘neglecting’ it. It was a new change then.

Engaging The Senses
In the dream, I also told Richard about how I might scare people might steal the TV since it is just at the corridor. However, in the dream, everything was still intact. The TV was placed at the corridor together with the rest of the furnitures! The surprising part of all was that Richard really went to the block just now with Isaac!

I was awoken by what Prof Wee said in the dream. It was an old school. Prof Wee was standing at the fence of the school. I was outside the school, looking at the plants. There were notes on the trees, together with pictures. The pictures were all fading. In fact, there was only one photograph. It was a fruit of the tree, a fig. I walked further towards the right of fence. This time, Prof Wee was standing at the tree. He was holding on to a fig fruit and telling me about the tree (fruit). I had forgotten the exact words he said, but it was about China Prisoners. I was awoken by that part of the dream.

Educational Signpost at Admiralty Park

Educational Signpost at Admiralty Park

The above educational signpost shows birds shits or excretions of the birds… Behind this educational signpost are 13 plants with supporting ‘growing’ sticks.  On the right of the signpost is a small pond where we caught some fish.

About Professor Wee
A.P Wee was our Botany Lecturer at NUS.  He got husky voice…  Yesterday I spotted a cluttered of pink frangipani at the neighbourhood, and thought of him…  On the internet, some information about him that I found:

Wee Yeow Chin (Timber Press); (Patron of the Singapore Gardening Society)  Dr. Wee Yeow Chin retired from his post as Associate Professor of the Department of Botany, National University of Singapore, in 1997. He remains actively involved in nature conservation and nature education and is the author of many popular books on the flora of Southeast Asia.

The above photograph shows an example of what a typical educational signpost would look like at the Admiralty Park. Compare this one to the one above.
