Simulation of Sports Facility, Ngee Ann Polytechnic

Richard and I went to Ngee Ann Polytechnic Open house on 7 January 2011

Notification
This morning I had a series of dreams that seemed to continue despite waking at intervals. The first moment that I woke up in the morning from this dream was the number 17. It was a dream about Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Richard and me were in the swimming pool. There were many people in the clear blue swimming pool water. I was wearing spectacles. In the dream, I thought of wearing goggles, but in the end, I had made my choice not to wear goggles since I would not be able to see clearly without my spectacles. So I wore my spectacles, and I tried going under the water. As expected, water went into my eyes… I got up from the water. Richard and I walked in the pool. The pool was very big, the size of the normal swimming pool. There were some events going on. Numbers (contestants) were being called. Suddenly, I heard the number 17 being called, and I was awoken.

Wind of Change
Isaac awoke as well. After tending to him, I had to sleep again (since he laid on me). I had wanted to write this post since morning as soon as I woke up, but could not do so. Now, the dream seemed to be connected to the previous one… it was outside the swimming pool now. I saw a Jackfruit tree — with leaves and its stem (the whole tree). It was so clear in the dream, about this tree — with dark green leaves, shiny and waxy… Something strange about this dream. It was TSH (the national day boy)! His hands were so smooth! In his hand was a oval shaped pendant, silver in colour (lost its lustre). On the pendant was Buddha and on its reverse side, lotus. Now, I asked TSH to tell me about Buddha, but he refused to tell me.  At this point of the dream, I was awoken once again.  Later, I had a dream and it was about shops and shopping if I am not wrong.  I had forgotten everything but it was something about bedsheets, and I had entered the shop…

Final Countdown
On the day that I went to the open house, I had a dream, a very special dream and really scary things seemed to happened. At the polytechnic, I was so surprised by what I dreamed and what I see at the polytechnic canteen known as Food Haven…

Food Haven
Had our lunch at Food Haven.

1.  What you see is not what you will get
a. Yong ToFu, Yong Tau Fu, Yong Tau Foo
What you see on the signboards ‘cannot be trusted’. Yong Tau Foo stall not selling Yong Tau Foo — Yong ToFu according to the signboard. Different people have different spelling, but it means the same thing, that is, Yong Tau Foo = Yong Tofu.
What is selling below the signboard written “Yong Tofu” was actually pancakes. There was hardly any business — I sat there, eating my food and observe the traffic. The heaviest traffic among the stalls were the Western Food.

Chinese Rice & Yong ToFu Stalls

b. Noodles
I wanted to eat Laksa, but there were no Laksa… Below you can see the Noodles stall.  On the signboard, you can see on the top left corner, a bowl of Laksa.  But when Richard queued up (and finally his turn), he came back with “NO Laksa”.

2. Unusual Sight
In Singapore, chicken rice is such a favourite among the people. At Woodgrove, the chicken rice stall always have long queue. At Woodlands North Plaza, though the chicken rice are not that nice, there are still people queuing up, and the stalls had been operating for so many years. It is really a rare sight to see the Chicken Rice Stall to be closed.  I wondered if it was having its off day then.

The Vegetarian stall was selling fish soup… Tom Yam Seafood, Sliced Fish Seafood written on the piece of ‘added’ orange piece of paper just below the signboard for the Vegetarian stall.

Richard ate Fish and Chips, ordered from the Western Stall. It had such a long queue, as long as the length of 3 food stalls (after we sat down to eat). The busiest stall was the western stall. The fish and chips was cheap and really not bad (in fact, better than what I had tasted at Botak Jones previously)! For people not in Singapore and not in Woodlands, Botak Jones had moved out of Woodgrove long time ago… ever since Cafe 899 (Uncle Louis) take over the shop.
