Why Work, Why Study

White Pigeon; Variant Species of Pigeons

Work to discover, study to know; and seeing is believing.

Why Work, why Study? Perhaps the answer is to know that there is such a great variance of different people, different organisms on earth. These great diversity of living organism, including human beings are all the wonder and creation of God. Human beings are made able to talk, to know language (unlike the other animals). Being the superior beings in the animal kingdom, we are of ‘higher order’ and yet some humans are worst off than animals.

Work and studies is to improve the person (increase knowledge, experience and skills) and for betterment of society.

My niece had posted this questions on facebook some days ago (Sunday) and I happened to see it today.  At the end of the comment was from that of her Alumni and uncle, and also my husband.  His response was “Work is to enrich your life. Study is to enrich your mind.

My heart was just pierced. The kind of pain is the piercing and poking pain like the sword. I am so busy tending to the baby/toddler, 24/7, since 2009, the day the baby comes to this world. Can you imagine the tiredness and spiritual drain that I had to face? Sigh. The thunder roars. I hate to mention all these ‘dirty linen’ and ugly issues in the family — selfish nature of people, laziness and so on.

Piles of laundry clothes to be washed, piles of dishes to be washed, lots of mess to be cleared and tidied, and floor need to be cleaned as well. These alone are the housework. What about the children and my own ‘hobbies’ or even personal time? Do I have any to begin with? I can only ‘steal’ time…

I had depleted my savings. My funds that he had managed had gone “Bust”. He said that I never supported him… Well, ask his conscience now. In show, women always kept some money for herself because they know that men cannot be trusted. In show, we always see that the men strayed. In reality, men still strayed. They had extramarital affairs, indulged in gambling or other vices and they hardly stayed at home.

Why Work and Why Study? This is a question which I used to ask too. In the past, I got answers like people like the job that they do (and that is why they are working). I hardly ever encounter people who really said that they work because they need money. Why is this so? It is really as simple as this, people work because they need money!

Anyway, there are so many response to this questions and there are all sorts of answers. As usual, there is no right and wrong answers, and everyone has their own views.  But as for working is to enrich your life and study is to enrich your mind….

What is work and what is life?  What is study?  I had finished my official studies at NUS in 1993.  Thereafter, I wanted to pursue another degree (not because I want the degree), but because of my interest in Psychology.  And I thought that I could use the degree to get a better job.  But Richard told me that it is no use to get another degree (no point having two degree).  So I dropped the idea.  From then on, I am ‘walking his pathways’….

I stopped my official work somewhere around 2005.   But I am still ‘working’ now.  I need to work even though I am at home.  My work is to look after the family — the household.  Even though I am not employed elsewhere, but I am still working at home and do I GET PAID?  Do I get RECOGNISED?

This is a common question raised by so many people and faced by so many people.  And yet, people cannot do anything about it.  It is raining now, raining heavily now.  Water coming down from the sky…  Women, we are all women.  And yet, women are degrading themselves….  Selling your breasts…  selling your body….

What is LIFE?  Do you really have a life when you are all focusing on earning money and just MONEY.

Everyday I am staying at home, looking after kids and ‘home’…

Boring, never ending questions and answers….  its all about HUMANITY and to be humans is to know GOD, our SAVIOUR.
