Giant Fig Plant (The Score) outside Woodlands Stadium

Giant Fig Plant (The Score) outside Woodlands Stadium

Today is Qihua Primary School’s Sports Day, 22nd Annual Athletic Meet. It was held at Woodlands Stadium from 7.30am to 12 noon. Early in the morning, Clara went to the stadium. Richard and I went there at a later time.

This is the first time I had really sat down at the grandstand to watch the event. It was after visiting Woodlands Swimming Complex that we went to the Woodlands Stadium next. On the way, we saw food displayed (for guest-of-honours and teachers I supposed) as well as drinks station (MILO). The Milo looked nice — how I wish I could have a cup at that time when I passed by! Walking passed Woodlands Stadium, I noticed a familiar plant, The Fig Plant (无花果). Read the details about the ‘story’ of this plant at this post: Words + Art — http://www.peacebella.com/2010/10/09/words-art/.

QiHua Primary School's Sports Day

QiHua Primary School's Sports Day

It was such a perfect day of fine weather. Look at the sunlight. Such a beautiful day, eagles were seen soaring in the sky. What a beautiful sight. Children were cheering, talking, laughing, walking around or seated at the stadium, watching their schoolmates in competition. I looked out for my daughter, and she was not at all happy… :( ( I wonder why.

On the way home, I discovered that she was not being treated ‘fairly’ by the teachers. Apparently, the teachers had neglected their row, consisting of about 5-6 students. This row of girls did not have their chance of going for their break as a result — no break, no MILO drink!

What is the morale of this day’s event? Even though you might feel that you might be neglected in life, God knows and God is watching over us. There is a time for anything and everything.

About 14 years ago, I did not seek Medical Negligence Lawyers for my case. It was my first pregnancy and I would not have money to seek lawyers also. (read details at http://www.moneysick.com/2007/11/10/medical-malpractice/). I would hope that the doctor would pay for the hospitalization charges or had some compensation. But the doctor acted as though everything was normal. Afterall, we are just laypersons, and he is the professional… a professional doctor (gynaecologist). Two years ago, I had another case of unprofessional practices of the doctor. This time it involves the pediatrician, but the gynaecologist was being called up as well (for a meeting to resolve the matter).

A grey-haired pediatrician recommended by my gnaecologist (Dr Koh) attended to Isaac when he was born.  Dr Koh did not utter any words of importance to us.  I sensed something not right.  My baby did not cry.  Later on, this doctor, walked into the theatre.  I was so tired after the hard labour.  This doctor, from Australia Clinic of Upper Thomson Road, said,”Do you know what’s wrong with your baby?”  Even though I closed my eyes, I was conscious and mentally very alert.  I listened to every word that he said to me/my husband.  It was about 4pm.  I had not even taken a look at my baby.  The next thing that they wanted to do was to push the baby out of the theatre, saying that it was urgent….

Can you imagine?  The doctor did not tell me anything and suddenly, another doctor came in with such a news.  The baby was pushed to Intensive Care Unit.  This doctor from Australia Clinic said that he would get back to me later (before 7pm).  We waited and waited.  My neighbouring bed had woman gynaecologist.  She was such responsible doctor, attending to all her needs even immediately after the childbirth!  At 8pm, still no sight of any of my doctors!  Not even the one who told me that he would come to me (with news of my baby) no matter what.  I had to get off my bed myself and attended to everything myself — searching and calling up the doctor!  Can you imagine where the doctor was?  I went to the intensive care unit.  My baby was there alone.  The doctor was no where to be found.  The nurse gave him a call.  He was AT HOME!!!!

All these happening at Mount Alvernia Hospital.  My husband had to use credit card to pay for hospital fees.  I had to use my $1000 collection note in my money album to pay for hospital bills.  We were worried about hospitalization charges and at the same time worried about Isaac.  So poor people like us will not have any money to seek any medical negligence lawyers or any sort of lawyers should anything happens.

You never know how important someone is to you until you lost him/her. Why are there so much inequalities in this world? Some people are born rich while others are born poor. I had learned that people had misused their wealth. Some had seek the help of lawyers to escape from their wrongful acts of their lives (since they can afford to pay huge amount of money to lawyers). Rich people might not be always have a smooth journey in their life. They had to pay huge amounts of money for their health issues (cancer, diabetes, etc). All in all, there is just one thing to say: If there are no disparity among people, we would not be able to learn from each other.

Take the case of Michael Jackson. His parents had seek the help of lawyers to seek justice for their son. The time is 1124pm now, 30 March 2011. Do you know that in half an hour time, it would be the death anniversary of Maurice Blackburn! On 31 March 1944, Maurice Blackburn died in Melbourne of a cerebral tumour… read more at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers (since 1919), the place where you can seek more than just medical negligence lawyers — fighting for rights.
