Gold Rush

Si Dian Jin /四点金 (Poh Heng)

During my childhood days, my mother and sister would rush to Poh Heng at Boon Lay Shopping Centre to buy gold jewelry whenever they saw gold prices going low.  The gold price was displayed in the shop.  During shopping, whenever we passed by the gold shop, they would monitor the price of gold as being displayed in the shop.  My father always told my mother that buying gold is such a better investment than buying diamond.

I do not know much about Gold.  I only know that it was being used as a dowry in wedding as seen from the above photograph, the Si Dian Jin (四点金).  During my wedding, I had my Si Dian Jin (四点金) too.  But I was not particular about all these details.  I don’t have a liking for gold nor any jewelry at all.  As a kid, I only know that people wear gold especially wear them (jewelry) during special occasion like wedding to ‘show off’ (a display of their wealth) — this is something which I don’t like.

Growing up, I had learned more about Gold…

Gold is a metal with atomic number 79. The word Gold comes from an old English word meaning yellow. The symbol comes from the Latin aurum, which means “Shining dawn”. Gold is a dense, soft, shiny metal and the most malleable and ductile metal known. A transition metal, gold is found in Group 11 of the periodic table of elements.  Described as yellow, gold is one of the so-called precious metals, along with gold and silver. Known from ancient times, gold was used as early as 6000 B.C for various usage as ornamentation or decoration, as well as in industrial applications( such as in ceramics, electrical, and electronics applications).

Gold is highly valued in societies throughout the ages.  With a powerful history since its discovery, Gold has been symbolized as a means of wealth and power. Many people purchase gold because they think that it is a wise and safe investment that will withstand the test of time. It is also a safer investment instrument as compared to stocks/shares. Besides wealth and power, Gold may symbolize strength, warmth, happiness, love, hope, optimism, intelligence, justice, balance, perfection, summer, harvest and the sun.

Gold play such a great significance in our life.  For example, great human achievements are frequently rewarded with gold, in the form of gold medals, golden trophies and other decorations.  People often equate their achievements with wealth.  How much is your asset now?  How much are you earning?  While you are earning your money, are you using your money to work for you as well?  Do your money plans early, and do not take the wrong step in life.  Once you make a wrong step, it is so hard to turn back.  So be careful when money investment is considered.  Spot gold or check gold prices at Aurum Advisors Website, Gold Coin Gains, learn more about Gold Investment.
